The largest of the gazelles, the dama are considered critically endangered at 2500 and
declining. Their bodies are slender with long necks and legs. Their coats are bright white with a
brownish red neck and back. One might mistake the gazelle for being childishly curious with
their constantly swinging tails, but make no mistake, they are smart. They communicate through
vocalizations, and in the wild, they conserve food by reaching above the normal browse line.
Males have larger, thicker, S-shaped horns which slant backward and curl upward.
